The aim of the Circular Economy is to keep raw materials, components, and products in the economic process for as long as possible. The CIRCO method teaches companies how to apply circular design and business model strategies in concrete terms. “Circular entrepreneurship does not mean that a company has to be completely circular all at once. With CIRCO, we have developed a workshop concept that shows companies the possibilities of the circular economy and gives them concrete approaches to design circular business. With the Effizienz-Agentur NRW, we have been able to win a partner for the first CIRCO Hub in Germany that has been successfully advancing the topics of circular economy and resource efficiency for many years.” Said Pieter van Os, Programme Manager CIRCO International proudly at the signing ceremony.
Cornelius Laaser, Head of Division for resource efficiency and circular economy at the NRW Ministry of the Environment is pleased that the Effizienz-Agentur NRW, which works on behalf of the ministry, has been selected as Germany’s first CIRCO hub: “Our economy and our way of life and consumption must become more resource-efficient. The Circular Economy is the right approach for this and must be implemented even more strongly. Companies in North Rhine-Westphalia can thus use the CIRCO method to work out their potential for the Circular Economy.”
Effizienz-Agentur NRW has been enthusing companies in NRW to the topics of resource efficiency and the circular economy for many years. The workshop concept complents their offer to companies on resource-efficient management in an excellent way, according to Peter Jahns, head of the Effizienz-Agentur NRW: “The CIRCO method is a good starting point for manufacturing companies to identify circular measures and plan their implementation.”
The formalization of the collaboration took place in the presence of the Consul General of the Netherlands Peter Schuurman and the Circular Economy specialist at the Netherlands Consulate in Germany Patrick Janßen. “The joint cooperation between The Netherlands and NRW is a natural and important next step in the warm relation that already exists between the neighboring countries. With the CIRCO Method companies can start their circular journey today, and we hope that this will inspire other entrepreneurs to do the same. As the Consul General of The Netherlands in Germany, I am proud to witness this milestone in person, and I am looking forward to see the new CIRCO Hub florish.” Said Peter Schuurman.
