Kiah Sheng works as a Senior Experience Designer in 3D Design and believes that design extends beyond the creation of innovative products or applications. He believes it should not merely focus on producing more to sell more but on questioning the design’s purpose and its potential to positively impact our lives through a human-centred lens.
With more than half a decade of experience in chemistry, he has honed his ability to interpret complex information and has successfully navigated the realms of craft and strategy-related aspects of design.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, he facilitated conversations across healthcare and architecture stakeholders to design and oversee the fabrication and construction of a complex 4,000 sqft prototype space to test various components for the Woodlands Health Campus experience.
Through the COVID pandemic, Kiah Sheng developed collaborative virtual methods to work with Mandai Wildlife Group by facilitating a series of Design Sprints through the Design Thinking practitioner programme, leading them from research to prototyping ideas.
Kiah Sheng was deeply involved in untangling complexity at a systems level on projects with the Founders’ Memorial Visitor Experience and HealthCity Novena Master Plan 2030, where he facilitated diverse conversations with various citizen profiles and gathered needs across cross-functional teams to envision a strategic experience blueprint through a research-driven approach.
In his extensive experience working within the public service, Kiah Sheng facilitated organisational change and policies to transform the Ministry of National Development’s Workplace Strategy. He also led participatory design programmes with the National Heritage Board to develop Commemorative Experiences for Bukit Brown.
A certified trainer for CIRCO SG Hub, Kiah Sheng facilitates learning programmes in partnership with SIM, ITE, and NYP for businesses and designers to explore innovation and initiatives in the circular economy.
